Do What Makes You Come Alive by Valerie Cheers Brown

Favorite words of my motivational mentor, Evan Carmichael, “Keep doing what makes you come alive!”

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” — Howard Thurman – author, philosopher, educator

When we feel roused and connected with we emit an effective vitality. That vitality is fundamental to ourselves, as well as to our associations, our groups, our families, and other people around us as well.

So, its endless supply of us to make sense of what makes us wake up and go do it. A long way from liberal, it’s a basic demonstration of administration in a testing world.

In fact it is difficult to seek after what makes us feel invigorated. A number of us feel caught by circumstances. We think our just choices are to wade through and adapt. Feeling invigorated appears to be excessively unrealistic.

You may wonder, how do we get there?

I wish I could honestly answer this question but it would depend on you and I can say what works for me.

What I live for is writing and it truly makes me come alive and also I feel I cannot go without writing and must write at least once a day if not more. I live and love the life of writing and it is my new #1 medicine and music is my number 2 love and without music I would not be able to cope.

I go to sleep thinking about writing, I dream about writing and wake up writing!

So, I guess writing would be what I live for and so writing would be my niche!  I am work at progress and each time I write I feel myself feeling better and practice helps us get better at what ever we do in time when we love what we do.

The fun part to me is the title of any story and to me this is what I am learning is the eye appealer not so much as what we write.

The title gives me boundaries and sort of my outline which gives me inspiration of what to write about, although I know what my content will basically be about but that title is important and is the first thing readers see. I am learning that color and design attract lookers.

By me being technologically challenged am learning about the design process but again, work in progress and Rome wasn’t built-in a day!

When in college I was very inspired by the Sundheim Group who also believe and an insight I particularly love was, “The journey to aliveness becomes easier when you let go of “shoulds.” Many of us don’t realize how overwhelmed we are by shoulds. This is what I should be doing. This is how it should look. This is where I should be right now. He should be doing this. She should be doing that. They should be supporting me more. Shoulds weigh us down so much that they hamstring our creativity and energy. Let go of the shoulds. They rob you of precious time exploring what really matters to you. Fashion designer Coco Chanel said, “How many cares one loses when one decides not to be something but to be someone.” It’s a wise observation.”

A good tip for this: Spend time with individuals outside of your general circles—individuals who empower you. See the world they see. These individuals are not burdened by the same shoulds. They demonstrate to you choices you didn’t understand you had. Incomprehensibly, the additional time you go through with individuals who are not quite the same as you, the better you comprehend yourself.

This goes back to my dear inspiring friend Evan Carmichael and I indulge and listen to his advice on a regular basis.  Just like I live for writing, Evan breathes and bleed entrepreneurship motivation and he speaks about over one billion entrepreneurs and have been stalking him for many years now and “BELIEVE” and when I hear that word, I think of Evan Carmichael!

Yes, I believe in myself too, but Evan really helped me to believe and keep at it and keep doing what makes you come alive; is what he tells me all of the time, and I have been asking him for advice and asking him questions and he never fails answering, encouraging and inspiring me to ‘BELIEVE’.

Evan helped to change the world with his famous ‘BELIEVE’ concept and now he has a popular website for entrepreneurs. He also loves to Salsa dance too and I love his wife and his son too! So, I adore following my friend and mentor Evan Carmichael. For more information about my friend please go to:

One day I pray to be an inspirational name which when you hear my name, you know I have something positive and meaningful to help others.
